Books, Products & Educational Aids

I’ve come across so many fab educational products, I thought I’d put them in one section.

I will keep adding to this, but for now.. Here are my top tips on learning maths:-

Maths:

Mathletics.com website

I love this site!

Best thing about it is the game angle – your kids get to compete with other kids across the world.

Pick a topic – division, multiplication, fractions..

The pin hovers over the map, select your opponent (for example, a child in Australia), the clock starts ticking and play begins.

The quickest person to supply the correct answers wins.

And there’s a progress bar, so you can see who’s in the lead at any given time.

The site isn’t free – schools tend to sign up.

Safety is paramount – first names only, no school names on their, plus you cannot see or chat to your opponent.

Memorize in Minutes: The Times Tables

If your child is a visual learner, then you’ll know how difficult it is to try to learn timestables.

Put the numbers into stories, though, and it’s a different matter.

Memorize in Minutes does just that – it provides pictures and stories to learn each of the timestables.

Each number (from 2 to 9) is represented by the same picture throughout. For example, 8 is a Skate.

The system was written and developed by teachers.

It’s published by Krimsten Publishing.
