About

Hi! My name is Gaby Becker. For several years, I worked in television and online video. But during a break to have a family, I decided to retrain in alternative medicine. I’d always been interested in natural health and after four long years, I qualified as a homeopath, and later as a reflexologist. My speciality was working with kids. Most of my clients were children and since I was a mother myself… and hung out with other mothers… it was an obvious choice.

Over the years, I treated a lot of personality issues. Many were anxiety-based, some were inherited symptoms, others were a product of their environment. Many of the kids I saw had Sensory Processing and ADHD-type symptoms, many had recurring physical symptoms too. All in all, I found the best results were achieved through a multi-disciplinary approach. In short, if I relied on one method alone, it simply didn’t work.

Homeopathy is great but not if the Nutrition isn’t up to scratch. Parent clinics rock – but not if you’re too tired to implement the techniques. Nannies can be wonderful (if you can afford them), but not if they keep leaving! And clever kids can quickly feel very stupid if they’re not taught in the way in which they learn. With a background in TV, I certainly knew how to do research and I had plenty of clients who were only too happy to try something new. And that was how this site was born.

Over time, I accumulated a wealth of information. Whether it was help for a skin condition, testing for allergies, exploring outlets for anger, teaching dyslexics how to read, understanding sibling rivalry, using positive parenting skills or simply coming up with a new place to take the children to burn off some steam. I gathered up all the information and resources and put it together in one place, to create the TrickyKidz site.

And so here we are! Welcome to TrickyKidz, a practical, one-stop shop for parents and carers of challenging children. (In other words, all children – since, let’s face it, all kids can be challenging at one time or another). Throughout these pages, you will find useful tips and guidelines across all sorts of areas – whether it’s sleep issues or homework hassles, activity ideas or allergies, nanny help or simply how to be a better parent. We have lots of great articles and will keep adding to the site over time. And now over to you…

I hope you enjoy!
