About TrickyKidz

Is your pre-school child throwing a tantrum… again?
Is your 3 year old hitting other kids?
Is your 5 year old refusing to eat his dinner?
Does your 7 year old ignore you when you speak?
Do your 9 year old twins still squabble?
Or perhaps you have a baby with eczema, a child with nits or you’ve just spotted a verruca?!

You’re a normal, regular parent who just needs a bit of help and advice.

You’ve got a challenging situation and you just want the best for your child.

What do you do?

Well you’ve come to the right place. Welcome to the TrickyKidz website, the practical resource for parents, grandparents and carers.

TrickyKidz offers practical tips from leading experts in children’s health, education and behaviour, as well as advice from other mums and dads.

It’s called TrickyKidz but it could just as easily be called Tricks for Parents, Parenting is Tricky, Stressed Out Dads or Cool Tips for Funky Mamas! Heck, we had to call it something.

The website covers a range of issues – from sore throats and sleep problems, nannies, nutrition and nits, through to homework, hyperactivity and how to get your kids to co-operate.

It is designed to help:-

- regular kids with everyday problems (such as allergies, bedwetting, tantrums or sibling issues)

- children with different learning styles (we’re not keen on the word disabilities)

- children who are a little bit more sensitive, hyper or intense (perhaps with Sensory Processing issues or ADHD-type symptoms… or perhaps they’re not the ones with the issues!)

In other words, this site is for all parents and all kids. Whatever shape or size!

TrickyKidz has been put together with the help of parents, for parents. We offer free information, discounts and practical solutions that really work.

Practical Help

Throughout this site, you will find useful alternatives to nagging, shouting and medication. TrickyKidz is about pure and simple parenting skills, educational aids, nutritional advice, homeopathic help, relaxation techniques, social activities (and we don’t mean the Wii!) and other useful tools for when things get too much.

All have been tried and tested by parents of tricky kids. These methods are proven to work and they will work for you too.

TrickyKidz is not intended as a substitute for visiting your GP. However, it might help you along the way.

Typical articles include: Healthy Food for Happy Kids, No More Homework Hassles, Eye Issues and Dyslexia/ADHD, How to Help Your Child to Sleep, The Six Step Method, Children Speak Childish and Yoga for Kids. These articles are written by leading experts in their fields and some of the names you will probably recognise.

Leading Experts

We are very lucky to have leading experts, authors and media figures involved in TrickyKidz. Top UK Nutritionist Marilyn Glenville (see Anti-Stress Diet for Parents), Ian Marber (aka The Food Doctor, see A Basic Guide to Kids’ Nutrition), well-known Homeopath Hilery Dorrian (see article on Fluoride), Sleep Expert Sammy Margo (Top Tips to Get a Child to Sleep), Great Ormond Street’s Dr Jon Goldin (The Role of Fathers), Foresight Specialist, Maria Griffiths (Nutrition for a Good Night’s Sleep), and Behavioural and Educational Specialist Noël Janis-Norton, who contributed many, many articles to our How to be a Better Parent section, as well as No More Homework Hassles, to name a few…

These experts have been kind enough to share their insights to help make parents’ lives a little easier. We’re very grateful to all of them.

How to Use this Site

The boxes on the left show some of the topics we feature. You can access the other resources from the left side bar. Of course, if you feel something should be featured that isn’t, please let us know via email and we’ll investigate. (Details are on the Contact Us page.)

Trickykidz is still a fairly new site, so please bear in mind your topic might not be up just yet – but it will be in due course. All feedback is welcome (preferably positive, but if not, we’ll try to take it on the chin!)

In the meantime, we hope you find TrickyKidz useful and if you do, please spread the word. We depend on you to keep going. Enjoy!
